This is just a quickie, but boy was I happy when I found out how to avoid my Word conversion to .mobi program indenting every chapter and new scene paragraph by the ‘special’ indentation setting I’d already entered for normal dialogue indents…
Here’s what to do:
For each first chapter paragraph and scene change paragraph, from the Format, Paragraph… menu, change ‘Special:’ to ‘First line’ and ‘By:’ (the actual setting) to 0.01.
This is undetectable by the human eye and fools conversion programs into thinking, ‘OK, it already has an indent specified so I won’t apply the usual indent setting’.
Result: unindented new chapter paras and unindented scene change first paras in your .mobi file.
All clear to upload to Kindle! (you have checked everything else, haven’t you?)
